What should you configure for each VLAN on the Firebox device?

For each VLAN on the Firebox device, enabling a DHCP server or configuring a DHCP relay is necessary to provide IP addresses to the devices operating within that VLAN. VLANs (Virtual Local Area Networks) segment a network into different broadcast domains, allowing greater control over traffic and security. Each VLAN typically represents its own subnetwork; therefore, devices connected to a particular VLAN need to be assigned an IP address that falls within that VLAN's subnet range.

When you enable a DHCP server for a specific VLAN, the Firebox can dynamically allocate IP addresses to devices as they connect, streamlining network management and ensuring that each client has a valid IP. Alternatively, if a DHCP server is managed externally, the Firebox can relay DHCP requests to that server, ensuring that devices can still receive their IP configurations without requiring additional server management on the Firebox itself.

This approach is particularly important in environments where devices are frequently joining or leaving the network, as it simplifies the overall network administration and helps ensure that IP addresses are assigned efficiently and in an organized manner.
